Gettin' Crafty

Without intending to mislead readers, let me clearly proclaim that I am not a crafty person. I hate sewing, I am no Claude Monet, I love to cook, but don't call me Bethany Frankel. I am an idea generator with a warped sense of time and abnormally large aspirations.  Here's my running list of great ideas.

Now, I don't have a pistachio addiction, but I've got a big family and twelve plus months to devour and collect shells needed for this DIY brooch.  Using our wedding colors, these may make perfectly appropriate boutonniere alternatives for the guys, and could make a great addition to the girls dresses or their hair.  I think this is a major win. For the how-to, visit the Crafter site.

I'm a big fan of group craft ideas, so these pretty fabric-flower rings are right up my alley. Perfect for a bridal party or wedding shower project.  For the how-to instructions, check out the article for instructions here.

For a fall event, make use of nature's gifts, and decorate with pine cone garlands.  For the how-to, visit Twig and Thistle. The only tricky part of this project is attaching the screw hooks, but if you have a forest-full of pine cones nearby and a few extra hands to help put it together, this is worth the effort.

For those daring to tackle the sewing machine, this corsage is a sweet accessory for the bridal party. Using iron-on transfers, the design template is available for free download here. A bit more involved, the result is lovely if you have patience and skills. For a list of instructions and materials, visit Martha Stewart Weddings.  For a less involved version of this corsage, see this alternative buy-it-yourself idea here.
